PS5 UI and Control Center Shared

Sony had a surprise State of Play video on October 15, 2020 that offered people a first peek at the PlayStation 5 Home areas in action. Platforming Planning and Management Senior Vice President Hideaki Nishino guided people through clips looking at the PS5 UI, which included an area for Activities and a Control Center. Nishino also shared additional screenshots at the PlayStation Blog.

The video and post began with showing how someone will wake the system up by pressing the DualSense PS Button. Once it is pressed, you can log into your account.

The new home area has a Control Center, which you can reach while in a game.  It lets you see things like official news, recent screenshots you’ve taken from the game, and where you are in certain areas. For example, it looks like we can see someone is 33% through the Sackboy: A Big Adventure level and see the last screenshot taken. At the bottom of this area, we can see menu buttons to take someone Home, to a Switcher to see online information, Notifications, Game Base, Music, Sound, Mic, Accessories, your Profile, and the power.

Here’s the full PS5 UI video, which has a guided tour of all of these elements.

And here are a few stills showing them off.

The PlayStation 5 will launch in Australia, Japan, North America, and South Korea on November 12, 2020. It will appear worldwide on November 19, 2020. An update already went out to the PS4 Remote Play app, turning it to the PS Remote Play app with PS5 support.
