There is good news today for people who enjoy the Professor Layton series and its many puzzles, but do not feel like playing one of the games on the Nintendo 3DS. Professor Layton and the Curious Village HD is now available on mobile devices outside of Japan, following a reveal it was heading to the west earlier in September 2018. It is $9.99/£9.99 on the App Store and Google Play, and there are no in-app purchases.
In Professor Layton and the Curious Village HD, players are taken through the Professor’s first case again. He has been summoned to St. Mystere, a mysterious town, to find the Golden Apple and determine if he is worthy of taking care of the Reinhold legacy. As you play, you will see the game in HD for the first time while solving over 100 puzzles and watching new animated segments that help tell the game’s story. The product listing also confirms that the game can be played entirely offline, after someone finishes downloading and installing it.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village HD is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. Professor Layton and the Curious Village EXHD is also immediately available in Japan.
