In addition to the Pokemon Twilight Wings series, which is nearing the end of its seven episode run, a animated short with familiar faces has appeared. This time, the video is focused on the Pokemon themselves. Poketoon episode 1: Chase the Beans, has launched. It is a retro-inspired short inspired by period animated pieces, like the older Mickey Mouse or Looney Tunes cartoons.
While this first PokeToon episode is only available in Japan at the moment, there are no language barriers of any kind. The text in the clip announcing the characters, episode title, and staff are all in English. (Don’t be thrown off by Scraggy being called Zuruggu, its Japanese name, though!) The cartoon itself has no dialogue. It’s all just about enjoying the hijinks of a Scraggy who would really like to eat and enjoy some plain Poke Beans, but keeps being thwarted by accidents and a Mimikyu.
As a reminder for people looking for more Pokemon adventures to watch, rather than play, there are plenty of options available. For example, Pokemon Journeys is about to begin airing on Netflix on June 12, 2020. You can also catch Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution immediately via that streaming service.
