This selection will focus on different characters and gameplay mechanics. For starters, Eevee and all of its evolved forms star in this expansion. The two Elite Trainer Boxes each even have them on their cases. One has Flareon, Jolteon, Leafeon, and Umbreon on it. The other has Espeon, Glaceon, Sylveon, and Vaporeon. In addition to Eeveelutions, dragon types will appear. The two mentioned in the announcement were the Duraludon VMAX and Rayquaza VMAX cards.

This selection will also continue the Battle Styles mechanic introduced in the Sword & Shield expansion released earlier in 2021. Cards that employ this tactic can have rapid strike or single strike attacks that either hit multiple times or do one solid hit. The two revealed rapid strike cards are Sylveon VMAX and Vaporeon VMAX. Also, people will see the single strike cards Flareon VMAX and Umbreon VMAX.

The Pokemon Trading Card Game Sword & Shield Evolving Skies Build & Battle Box will appear on August 14, 2021. The full set will launch on August 27, 2021.
