Following the new trailer this morning, The Pokemon Company shared additional details on some of the new features for the Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass at the game’s official website.
Here’s a look at what’s new from the latest update:
The Isle of Armor
Let’s start with a look at some of the new elements from Part 1: The Isle of Armor.
The Cram-o-Matic
First, here’s a look at the “Cram-o-matic” that you’ll find in The Isle of Armor. It is a recycling machine at the dojo that allows you to throw in four items to synthesize a new item. You can use it to create various items such as Poke Balls and PP Ups. You can also create rare items depending on the combination.
New Tutor Moves
Burning Jealousy is a new Fire-type move that can be taught starting with this expansion. When it hits, it deals damage to all opposing Pokémon and burns all opposing Pokémon that have had their stats boosted during the turn.
Grassy Glide is a new Grass-type move that can be taught starting with this expansion. This move has high priority when used on Grassy Terrain!
Max Soup
The next new feature is a big one called “Max Soup”. This is a special kind of cooking in The Isle of Armor that is made with rare ingredients found on the island. If a Pokemon with great hidden potential drinks Max Soup, it becomes a special Pokemon that is capable of Gigantamaxing.
This is apparently how you’ll get to unlock the Gigantamax Forms for your Starter Pokemon.
The Crown Tundra
The next part focuses on a new element from the Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass Part 2: The Crown Tundra.
Dynamax Adventures
In Dynamax Adventures, you’ll team up with three other Trainers in Pokemon Dens, where you have a chance of running into Dynamax Pokemon. If you encounter a Dynamax Pokemon during an adventure, you’ll need to work together with your allies to take it down for a chance to catch it.
Galarian Star Tournament
After progressing through The Crown Tundra, you’ll get to participate in the Galarian Star Tournament in the city of Windon. In this tournament, you’ll get to battle various Trainers you’ve met in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Moreover, you’ll also get to pick a teammate and take on the tournament together.
