Pokemon Oshawott Mijumaru Liner Train Will Launch Soon

The Pokemon Company and Kintetsu Railway held a pre-launch event for its upcoming Mijumaru Liner train, which is inspired by the Pokemon Oshawott. The latter will formally launch the Pokemon-themed train on February 27, 2025.

The pre-launch event included the first public reveal of the train’s interiors. It shows how the company decorated the train’s doors, floors, and seats with the fifth-generation water starter Pokemon that debuted in Pokemon Black and White. A video tweet from the Pokemon Daisuki Club also shows how “MijumaRhythm,” the Japanese theme song of Oshawott based on its Japanese name Mijumaru, will play inside the train.

The Mijumaru Liner will appear in stations around Central Japan, including Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Nagoya. However, it will most prominently run across the Iseshima area in Japan’s Mie prefecture. This is because The Pokemon Company has assigned Oshawott as the official ambassador Pokemon for Mie prefecture in December 2021.

On the first day on February 27, 2025, the train will depart the Kintetsu-Nara station at 9:13 AM JST to reach Osaka-Namba at 9:49 JST. It will then serve a round trip between Osaka-Namba and Kashikojima stations from 10:10 AM until 3:33 PM JST. The train will have different routes in the following days.

Kintetsu Railway will also sell a limited number of Oshawott-themed tickets that let people board the train with up to 1,500 yen worth of traverse range. While these tickets are only valid until September 30, 2025, it does not mean the Mijumaru Liner will cease operating right after that day.
