Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have shipped over 7.7 million units worldwide, The Pokémon Company announced today.

This news arrives a week after the announcement that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire had sold over 3 million copies between Japan, the U.S. and other regions, where the pair of games was released on November 21st.

Following this, the games were released in Europe on November 28th—a week later than everywhere else—and it appears the European launch has contributed to that 7.7 million figure significantly, as The Pokémon Company says Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire’s launch sales were about 135% of Pokémon X and Y.

Food for thought:

The original Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire for Game Boy Advance have sold 16.22 million copies worldwide. It should be interesting to see how close to that figure Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire manage to get.
