The game will be set in the Kalos Region, which first debuted in the Gen 6 titles Pokemon X and Y. The reveal trailer focused on the urban redevelopment plans for Lumiose city and showed how the city looks like in the present day. While the previous Legends game focused on a past version of the Sinnoh Region called the Hisui Region, we still don’t know in what era of the Pokemon history will be set in. In addition, the return of the Mega Evolution mechanic in the new Legends game was teased at this end of the trailer.

The new Pokemon Legends game will be the second title in the subseries. This line of games started with the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus on January 28, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch. The Legends game feature a more freeform, open world gameplay style, rather than traditional turn-based battles.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is currently in development and it will appear worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on 2025.
