Niantic is getting ready to launch an event for the Pokemon GO 7th anniversary celebration. The event will offer additional bonuses, different starter Pokemon appearing each day, and a returning shiny Masterwork Research Story. The event will take place from July 6-12, 2023.
New versions of Wartortle and Blastoise will be added to Pokemon Go to mark the event. These variants will feature them wearing party hats. They can also be evolved from Squirtle wearing a party hat, who will be appearing more frequently during the event. Meowth, Ponyta, Togedemaru, and a Pikachu wearing a cake hat will also be appearing more frequently.
Each day of the 7th anniversary celebration will involve starters from the first seven Pokemon generations appearing more frequently too. This is the schedule players can expect:
- July 6, 2023 – Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle (all wearing party hats)
- July 7, 2023 – Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile
- July 8, 2023 – Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
- July 9, 2023 – Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup
- July 10, 2023 – Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott
- July 11, 2023 – Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie
- July 12, 2023 – Rowlet, Litten, Popplio
There will also be one-star raids for the party hat Pokemon. Three-star raids will offer Magneton, Lapras, Flareon, Snorlax, and Sealeo. Five-star raids will offer Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Mega Raids will offer a chance to get Mega Blastoise.
For an additional $5, we can get the Masterwork Research Story, which allows them to get a shiny Mew. Players must open Pokemon Go during the event to access the tasks, but they can then be completed at any time.
In addition to celebrating Pokemon Go, Niantic is also looking ahead to its next collaboration. Beta tests for Monster Hunter Now are happening soon ahead of its release in September 2023.
Pokemon Go is available now for iOS and Android devices.
