The Pokémon Company have revealed that pre-orders for Pokémon Black/White 2 in Japan reached the 1.16 million mark on June 17th, according to sales tracker, Media Create. The games were released in Japan yesterday, June 23rd.

The original Pokémon Black/White saw a tremendous number of pre-orders as well in 2010. By August 22nd—a whole month ahead of their September 18th release date—Black/White pre-orders had reached 1.08 million. As of May 20th, 2012, the games have sold 5.47 million copies in Japan alone.

As per usual, we’ll get to find out sales numbers for Black/White 2 this coming week. Thus far, retailer reports from Japan haven’t indicated much of interest, other than that they will likely run out of stock before they receive their next shipment of the game.

North America and Europe will see Pokémon Black/White 2 this fall.
