PlatinumGames has erected a teaser website for something called “Platinum4”. The site can be accessed here.
There isn’t much to see on the website at the moment, aside from a large “4” against a grey backdrop and a piece of text that says “#Platinum4 site is now open.”
This comes following reports that PlatinumGames are launching a Kickstarter to have The Wonderful 101, originally developed for the Wii U under Nintendo, ported to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Whether the Platinum4 teaser site pertains to this initiative or something else is unknown at this time.
Over the last two years, PlatinumGames have expressed a desire to self-publish and own more of their games, and last month the studio revealed that it would have a number of small and large announcements to make in 2020. The studio also recently received a capital investment from Tencent Holdings Limited, the Chinese company that owns stakes of varying sizes in Riot Games, Epic Games, and a number of other firms.
At the time, PlatinumGames CEO Kenichi Sato stated: “We hope to use this capital to strengthen our foundation as a business and expand from game development into exploring self-publishing. We also hope that this partnership can give us a wider global perspective, while still creating high quality games that stay true to our name.”
