According to the PlatinumGames 4 website, the developer and publisher will have a fifth announcement sometime in 2021. The company launched a promotional campaign highlighting four new announcements back in 2020. The latest tease is an extension of that campaign.
We have actually known about a fifth announcement since last year, but this is the first time we’ve gotten a timeframe on the reveal. PlatinumGames updated its official home page to change the listing for the reveal date from 2020 to “XX.XX.2021”. Upon visiting the website, the graphic glitches out and lists “BONUS STAGE” as seen below.
The PlatinumGames 4 announcements happened back in the first quarter of 2020. The company kicked things off with The Wonderful 101 Remastered and its related Kickstarter campaign. The second reveal was Director Hideki Kamiya’s new superhero game, Project G.G. The third announcement was a new studio based in the Tokyo area (PlatinumGames’ headquarters is based in Osaka). And the fourth was an April Fools’ trailer that saw Platinum and Hamster team up on a project that would bring the Terra Cresta series back in the spotlight. Unfortunately, that was all a joke.
PlatinumGames is a developer and publisher well-known for its innovative character action titles like Bayonetta, NieR: Automata, and Astral Chain. We will keep our readers informed of the company’s fifth announcement in 2021.
