The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be handled a bit differently this year, with everything appearing on NBC and Telemundo, so people can safely watch at home. However, even with the change, a familiar Pokemon balloon will return. The Pokemon Company confirmed there will be a Pikachu Macy’s parade appearance for the 2020 event.
A picture of this year’s Pikachu float appeared. It is a winter-themed balloon that has Pikachu in a green and red scarf and holding a Pikachu-shaped snowman. It is 53 feet tall, 36 feet long, and 29 feet wide. The Pokemon portion of the parade will also involve dancing Pikachus. (The announcement didn’t specify if these will be the larger costumes we tend to see appear at Japanese events.)
Here’s the 2020 Pikachu balloon. (The people below are also decked out in Pikachu outfits.)
Aside from the Pikachu Macy’s parade appearance, no other video game balloons will appear. However, a few other familiar faces that will show up are Snoopy and Spongebob Squarepants. There will also be a Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles float.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC and Telemundo from 9am-12pm local time on November 26, 2020. The official website detailed some of the other floats that will appear.
