Need something to read between sessions of Phantasy Star Online? Sega has just the thing, as the localization of its online webcomic PSO2COMI has just wrapped up. That means that as of March 11, 2021, players and onlookers alike can read all 97 “episodes” of the comic localized into English.
Short for “Phantasy Star Online 2 Comic,” PSO2COMI is a manga-style strip following the lighthearted adventures of two friends, Tetra and Mitarashi in the game. It contains in-jokes, humor, and of course, lots of talking about PSO2.
More importantly for players, each episode also comes with a code that can be redeemed for in-game goodies and items. Characters from PSO2COMI (also called Pusonicomi in Japan) have appeared on Phantasy Star Online 2 merch, and even received an online anime series.
Comics like PSO2COMI are pretty common for service games like Phantasy Star Online 2. Granblue Fantasy has Grand Blues, which recently received an anime adaptation (viewable on Crunchyroll). Fate/Grand Order has its Learning With Manga series, whose take on the game protagonist is so popular she appears on sandwich makers.
Phantasy Star Online 2Â is globally available on the Xbox One and PC (via the Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam). Players can also get it on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan.
