It’s been a while since we last heard about Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, but Sega will share the latest in a live stream set for December 19, 2020, in Japan.
The Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis live stream will be available to watch on YouTube Live and Periscope via Twitter. It will take place on December 19, 2020, at 8:30 pm JST. Hiro Arai will return to host the broadcast, which will be a follow-up to what we saw during Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online. Sega will share more information, including the URLs for the live streams later.
As previously detailed, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a “rebirth” and a clean break from PSO2. The major update will essentially be similar to what Final Fantasy XIV had from 1.0 to 2.0. The setting in New Genesis is set 1,000 years after the events of PSO2. In addition to gameplay and graphics upgrades, it will feature a wide-open playing field. Everything related to character growth, such as EXP, skills, Photon Arts, and Techniques, will be reset. Players will also get to carry over their PSO2 characters into New Genesis and play them on both games with shared “Arcs Cash” across the accounts.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will release in North America for the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC in 2021. It will appear on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch via Cloud, and PC in both normal and Cloud versions in Japan.
