The Steam version of Persona 5 Strikers will use Denuvo anti-tamper technology according to the game’s recently launched Steam store page. The Steam version of Persona 4 Golden also uses this technology. It isn’t yet known how a Persona 5 Strikers Denuvo DRM will affect the game. [Thanks, DSOGaming!]
Denuvo DRM is a technology meant to prevent piracy, but its presence can also affect the performance of some video games. That said, it isn’t an entirely uncommon practice to include it with the release of PC games. It also isn’t uncommon for publishers to eventually remove Denuvo. Capcom, for example, has a history of using and subsequently removing the third-party digital rights management technology. This was the case for Resident Evil 2 as well as Devil May Cry 5. In the latter case, there were reports of the technology’s presence affecting gameplay performance.
Persona 5 Strikers features the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 and is a Musou-type game developed by Koei Tecmo’s Omega force. It will be available in eight different languages with options varying from platform to platform. Persona 5 Strikers releases for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on February 23, 2021. Pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe version of Persona 5 Strikers from the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, or the Steam Store, will grant early access to the game on February 19, 2021.
