Persona 5 Singer Lyn Sings Sonic Adventure 2’s ‘Escape from the City’

There’s a new version of the Sonic Adventure 2 song “Escape from the City,” and this time it is sung by the Persona 5 singer Lyn. The new rendition is part of a new line of Sonic the Hedgehog game remixes. The “Escape From The City – Funk RMX” kicked the collection of YouTube videos off.

First, here’s Lyn performing “Escape From The City – Funk RMX” version of the Sonic Adventures 2 track. Game footage appears in the background. Also, Composer Jun Senoue returned for this arrangement. While Senoue worked alongside Ted Poley to create the original song, Dean DiMarzo came to assist on this new take.

To hear an original version, here is the demo version of “City Escape.”

The song was also part of the Sonic 30th Anniversary Symphony. It appeared at the very end. People can catch it at the 1 hour, 51 minute mark in the video below.

While Lyn is well known as the Persona 5 singer, she’s performed on the soundtracks for Persona series spin-offs too. She sang six songs on the Persona 5 Strikers soundtrack. This includes that game’s opening theme, “You are Stronger.” She performed “Groovy” and “One Nightbreak” for Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight. She also was behind some of the tracks for the Persona Q2 soundtrack. She sang its opening theme, which is “Road Less Taken,” with fellow Persona series singers Lotus Juice, Shihoko Hirata, and Yumi Kawamura. Most recently, she performed at TGS 2021.

Sonic Adventure 2 appeared on the Dreamcast, GameCube, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
