Nintendo’s European and Japanese Twitter accounts have announced an upcoming change to the way Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions will work. Starting October 1, 2019 in both regions, people will be able to convert an Individual Membership into a Family one and get a discount in the process. The North American account has not yet mentioned any offer.
The European account doesn’t mention what the discount rate will be yet. However, the Japanese site has already been updated with an explanation. In Japan, each day you have left remaining on an Individual account will count as a ¥6 discount on a Family subscription. The example used on the page suggested that if someone went for a ¥4,500 Family Membership and had 100 days left of an Individual one, they would get a ¥600 discount on the new membership. That would make the price for a year ¥3,900 instead.
Nintendo Switch Online memberships are available in Individual and Family plans and give subscribers access to online play, apps with NES and Super NES games, cloud save data backup, a smartphone app, and special offers.
