Paranoia Agent is an anime TV show from 2004, directed by Satoshi Kon. The plot centers around a social phenomenon where a young assailant named Lil’ Slugger attacks citizens. The story focuses on each character he affects and the mysteries surrounding them.
Known for his work on animated films like Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika, Paranoia Agent is the only TV show Kon directed. Frontier Works’ Blu-Ray will have all 13 episodes in 16:9 aspect ratio at 1080i resolution on one disc. Retailers such as Amazon JP have the item up for pre-order. Thanks to Amazon, we have the cover for the Paranoia Agent Blu-Ray below.
Back in December 2020, Funimation released a Blu-Ray set of Paranoia Agent for the west. That collection had two discs with episodes split between them, along with special features. Among the bonuses were storyboards for episode one and a talk show between Satoshi Kon and the anime’s composer, Susumu Hirasawa.
The Paranoia Agent Blu-Ray set will release in Japan on May 26, 2021. The regular price is 9,900 yen (including tax). However, Amazon JP does have a pre-order discount at the time of this article.
