Saori Kobayashi experimented with several songs as the main theme of Panzer Dragoon Saga. One day, she had spent so much time thinking about it when a coworker invited her to go out drinking. The coworker advised her to be ready to leave in 30 minutes, and the song had to be done that day, so she ended up rushing through and writing it within those 30 minutes. And in that short time an icon song was made. Kobayashi recently finished her work on Crimson Dragon, a spiritual sequel of sorts to the Panzer Dragoon series, and Shattered Moon, which is part of In Flux.
"When making music for a game like Panzer Dragoon or Crimson Dragon, the first thing I must think about is the world of the game, which is developed, altered and elaborated on throughout development. I then come up with a few different ideas to match the game, but they are never 100% made to my own liking," said composer Saori Kobayashi.
Speaking of the Panzer Dragoon Saga, Kobayashi is resurrecting one of the candidate main theme songs for the Sega Saturn RPG, Pirika, in a future album to be published with Brave Wave under her band Akane. Saori Kobayashi and Suikoden vocalist Yumiko Takahashi for the two person ensemble.
"For Shattered Moon, I first figured out a melody that I thought was good, and then customized it entirely to my own liking. So while composing Shattered Moon, I wasn’t actually sure where it would eventually end up going. But in the end, the song ended up something I was very satisfied with. I hope listeners of IN FLUX enjoy it like I do," Kobayashi added.
