Overwatch is no stranger to seasonal events and has celebrated a wide array of holidays and milestones throughout the years. These include things like its own anniversary and April Fool’s Day. Now Blizzard has revealed the launch date for its seasonal Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2020 event. A tweet posted to the official Overwatch Twitter account also showcases a new costume from the event called Penguin Mei.

The teaser footage for the event doesn’t explicitly state much about what players can expect, but it does appear to be set in a Christmas-themed version of the game’s stage, Ecopoint: Antarctica map. In the video, Mei’s robot companion, Snowball, hovers above a nest of eggs. Past Winter Wonderland events have featured a game mode called Mei’s Snowball Offensive.

The Penguin Mei costume is the first unlockable we’ve seen for the event so far. It is a full-body Penguin suit. Mei’s face peaks out from a hole in the hood located just below the beak. Snowball also takes on a Penguin-esque appearance.

The Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2020 event begins on December 15, 2020. Overwatch is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A sequel to the game, fittingly titled Overwatch 2, is currently in development. It will feature story missions, new PVE content, and the ability to play PVP with players from the first game.
