The reveal was accompanied by artwork showing Nook thinking about 34 of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers who apparently received the Nook’s Home mailers gauging interest in Island Getaway Packages. People like Bunnie, Colton, Fauna, Flip, Gladys, Goldie, Goose, Hamlet, Jay, Melba, Molly, Peanut, Rosie, and Stitches all show up.

Update: The number has now been shared on the English account as well.

As a reminder, Animal Crossing: New Leaf started out with 333 villagers. Once the Welcome amiibo update was released, 50 “lost” characters were added as new inhabitants from games like Doubutsu no Mori e+. That brought the total count up to 383. So this 383 figure could mean that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers will include all of the standard and Welcome amiibo characters from New Leaf.

In addition to these Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers, the Animal Crossing Direct helped introduce some of the new Special Characters who will appear in the game. Orville and Wilbur will run Dodo Airlines. We also saw a new Turnip vendor named Daisy Mae, an extraordinary bug catcher named Flick, and C.J., a new character handling fishing contests.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will launch on March 20, 2020.
