New Super Mario Bros. 2 has a copious amount of coins and players from all over the world collected 1,026,171,354,778 coins since the game was released one year ago. That’s a lot of coins in just a little over a year.

Bowser used to be quite stingy with his treasure too. In the original Super Mario Bros. coins were hard to find in World 8. I assumed Bowser figured out Mario was earning extra lives so he ordered his legion of goombas and koopas to pick up all the floating coins. I guess Bowser is just getting sloppy these days.
