Netflix revealed the release date for the anime adaptation of the popular Capcom video game series Onimusha. The anime will premiere on the streaming platform on November 2, 2023. Renowned Director Takashi Miike will be in charge of directing it alongside Director Shinya Sugai, who previously worked on the Dragon’s Dogma Netflix anime. The characters were designed by artist Kim Jung Gi. Additionally, a new key visual art was revealed.
The story takes place during the early Edo period, as the start of a tentative peace settles in Japan after the Sengoku period. Protagonist Miyamoto Musashi embarks in a journey to defeat the Genma, demons that have started to infest the world, as he takes a young orphaned girl as his protégé. The anime series will also feature Kojiro Sasaki as one of its characters, and Iemon is a mysterious man that despises all samurai and wants to wipe them out.
The new Onimusha anime series mixes 3D CGI animation style for character models, and hand-drawn backgrounds. Rock band Måneskin performs “The Loneliest” as the opening song for the anime adaptation.
