Netflix and the One Piece social media account revealed that the live-action series was number one when it came to global views on the streaming service between July and December 2023. At the same time, it also shared a new video. This time, it captures the actors playing the Straw Hat pirates as they reunite to film season 2 of the One Piece live-action adaptation.
First, here’s the announcement that confirmed the series’ popularity when it came to Netflix views.
As for the video, it begins with Inaki Godoy in a car, asking Siri how to get to South Africa. (Godoy plays Monkey D. Luffy.) The country is where both season 1 and 2 of the One Piece live-action adaptation is filmed. We then see Godoy in airports as he heads to Cape Town and the Going Merry. After that, we see Mackenyu, who plays Roronoa Zoro, fly out to reunite with him. Emily Rudd, who is Nami, heads out from an airport to join them. Finally, they’re joined by Jacob “Usopp”Romero and Taz “Sanji” Skylar. It ends by confirming production is started, but doesn’t include any teases for other cast members.
Ahead of this reveal, Netflix started sharing details about the new actors joining the cast. We know who will play Smoker, as well as a few Baroque Works members.
The first season of the One Piece live-action adaptation is now on Netflix, and season 2 is in production. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix. Viz Media handles the manga outside Japan.
