The holidays are upon us, and Nintendo is celebrating one series with official art. To get people in the festive sort of mood, new Splatoon art featuring the Squid Sisters Callie and Marie and the two Off the Hook members, Pearl and Marina. These Twitter and Instagram images are here in honor of “Squidmas.”
The two pictures actually go together, and there’s a bit of a progression. It is best to look at the Instagram image released by Nintendo of America and Japan first. It has “someone” taking a picture of Callie, Marie, and Pearl.
In its companion piece on Twitter, we see that someone was Marina.

Nintendo releasing Splatoon 2 artwork isn’t an uncommon occurrence, as it often had official images to celebrate special occasions. Most notably, there were often new pictures released around every Splatfest. One appeared around the time of the June 2019 Splatfest, showing Off the Hook with a narwhal and unicorn. The May 2019 Time Travel vs. Teleportation one had an official image and is another example.
While Splatoon 2 won’t be getting any special events anymore, as the last Splatfest was held back in July 2019, it hasn’t forgotten about the game. A January 8, 2020 balance patch will be released to adjust an array of weapons from the game. It will be followed by another update in April 2020.
