It’s certainly Jojo and his pals all right in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Shooters. This odd “medal” game from Namco Bandai lets players trail the story of the extended Jojo family’s storyline and fights are done using striker medals representing Jojo and his team against foes. Like I mentioned last time, the only close version I can think of to explain it is carrom.

These medals will represent as complete a character would be in other RPG’s, including what looks like health bars, special attacks that animate when they hit a foe and combo systems. That’s a crazy amount of skills and special video effects going off for a simple medal game if skills activate every turn or so. If the video didn’t give it away, this is a smartphone game that hopes to re-jig the joy of Jojo, but it’ll have animated segments when the story plays out.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Shooters is set for the iOS and Android in 2014.
