With remastered games for PlayStation 3 gaining steam and since so many readers inquired about HD remakes I asked NIS America’s president Haru Akenaga what he thought about the idea.
"Our games use dot graphics and are impossible to remake in HD. We would need to redraw the graphics again. In that case, it is not easy work to do HD remakes. We’re going to think about other ways to reproduce our titles," Akenaga answered.
"Perhaps, you can work on this idea for [PlayStation] Vita," I said.
"Hmm… good point," Akenaga said with a smile. "Actually, we already announced there are some titles in development for Vita. This news was released in Japan." Yep, it was part of Nippon Ichi’s most recent earnings report, which says new titles for Next Generation Portable and Nintendo 3DS are in development. So far, NIS America and their parent company have not announced any specific games.
We’ll have more news about NIS America, including discussion about their Imageepoch project, on Siliconera next week.
