We got a glimpse of a new Minecraft-style sandbox game by Nippon Ichi yesterday, and the company revealed it as Hakoniwa Company Works for PS4 in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima.]
Hakoniwa Company Works is described as a completely new simulation RPG by Nippon Ichi Software. It features various elements from character growth, terrain destruction, material gathering, building destruction, and crafting.
It takes place in a world called “Cloud’s End” that is home to countless islands that float in the sky. Each of these island has its own culture, and you’ll work as part of a “Company” that is responsible for connecting these islands through various requests.
Meme Kazamidori (CV: Shuka Saito) – She’s the protagonist of the game who was once part of a famous Company. She has a bright and positive personality.
The game offers job classes for the characters and you’ll need to know when to use the right ones, for example at times you’ll want characters that specialize in battle or characters that specialize in excavating. There are various items such as weapons used for battles, shovels and pickaxes for gathering, and so on.
You’ll get to craft buildings and and furniture by using material blocks, and you can even power up characters based on the type of building and their interior. There’s also a “Drawing” feature that lets you create things the way you want.
First-print copies of the game include 100 parts for the Drawing feature, as well as several Nippon Ichi characters like Disgaea’s Flonne, The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2’s Chelka, and Yomwari: Night Alone’s young girl.
Hakoniwa Company Works releases in Japan on July 13, 2017 for PlayStation 4.
