Nintendo’s announced another creative and educational game/bit of creation software. On June 11, 2021, Game Builder Garage will show up for the Nintendo Switch. It both teaches people visual programming and provides an outlet to play games others create and share. There will even be an option to collaborate on a title together.
Game Builder Garage will consist of both lessons and the editor needed to make games. Should someone follow the Lesson Mode titles, they can make seven games step-by-step. Of those, On a Roll, Tag Showdown, and Thrill Racer appeared. They can even use a USB mouse for finer details if the Switch is docked. (Joy-cons, Pro Controllers, and touchscreen controls are also supported.) Free Programming lets people play around with the full editor to make original projects.
As for sharing, there are multiple options. You can wirelessly send a game to someone else with the title or download yours or others’ work via codes. People will also be able to work together on different games and projects.
Here’s the reveal trailer. It shows how it works, the different effects you can work with, and possible games you can make.
Game Builder Garage will come to the Nintendo Switch on June 11, 2021. It will be available digitally and physically for $29.99.
