After 15 years, the Nintendo World Championships tournament is returning this year on June 14th, and this morning Nintendo of America shared further details on the competition and what games will be involved.
The qualifying competition will feature the Championship mode of Ultimate NES Remix for the Nintendo 3DS.
In this mode, players will need to take on a series of three score-based challenges in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Dr. Mario. The qualifiers will take place at 8 Best Buy locations, and games and systems will be provided at each location, although the Ultimate NES Remix game is already available for anyone that wants to start practicing early.
The top scorer from each of the eight qualifiers will move on to the final event in Los Angeles, which will be a multi-round competition featuring a variety of Nintendo games. Also, an additional eight competitors selected by Nintendo will compete in the Nintendo World Championships as well, but Nintendo have not revealed who these people are and just how they will be selected.
