Nintendo has updated their Nintendo Switch Online website with more NES titles set to join the emulator service, and it seems that we are getting Donkey Kong Jr., VS.Excitebike, and Clu Clu Land for this month’s new additions.
VS. Excitebike in particular is quite an interesting choice, as this game is an enhanced version of Excitebike with distinctive features, such as ‘Vs. Excite’ mode which is a 2-player versus mode, a completely different soundtrack, and an ‘Original Excite’ mode with tracks based off the original arcade release of the same name. As the game was released for the rewritable Famicom Disk System, players were able to save their custom tracks.
That said, it’s not the first time Vs. Excitebike (FDS) was released overseas – it came to the eShop back in 2015 as well. This means it’s not completely unprecedented, and that people still shouldn’t expect some of the originally Japanese-exclusive games to come over on Nintendo Switch Online as well.
The Nintendo Switch Online NES service is available on Nintendo Switch via a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
