The main duties for both cloud development positions require construction and application of a private cloud to be used by the Nintendo software and hardware product development department.

The Windows and Linux engineer position lists as a requirement experience in at least one of the following:

  • UEFI/BIOS development
  • Windows or Linux kernel/UI/device driver development
  • Designing logical evaluation items to validate the integrity of host and guest, and creating efficient evaluation environments

Meanwhile, the position of cloud infrastructure and virtualization engineer requires experience in one of the following items:

  • Researching, validating, operating, developing, and customizing existing hypervisors such as ESXi, KVM, and Hyper-V
  • Familiarity with Linux kernel and virtualization technology (such as QEMU)
  • Experience with virtual environment management tools for private cloud operations
  • Experience in designing and implementing virtualization technologies such as OpenStack, VMware, Xen, OpenNebula, among others.

With the announcement of a successor to the Nintendo Switch around the corner, it’s only natural that Nintendo is looking to expand their development staff into new avenues. In other related stories, the company recently announced that the Switch successor will be backwards compatible with Switch games and software.
