Bases Loaded was Jaleco’s big hit in the West, but in Japan Ninja Jajamaru-kun is their most successful Famicom-era franchise. The series was so popular IndiesZero even made a parody, Robot Ninja Haggle Man, for Retro Game Challenge. If you never heard of the games before Hardcoregaming 101 has an overview of them.
After the Nintendo DS game WizMan’s World, Jaleco went silent, but they quietly released a new Ninja Jajamaru-kun game for Mobage.
Yes, its a social game and instead of hopping around throwing shuriken you train your ninja. You can work together wither other players, fight ghosts, and rescue Princess Sakura.
When we last saw Ninja Jajamaru-kun he was going to star in a Nintendo DS game. The title appeared, along with a few screenshots, in Japanese magazines… back in 2006. Since the page for the game is gone too we can safely say it’s canceled.
