Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a 2D side-scroller, similar to the original NES games from the 80s. It will star a new character, Kenji Mozu, as Ryu Hayabusa heads off to America for the events of the first game. A lot of the original mechanics are present, although the game is likely to feature Metroidvania elements, especially considering the developer working on it. The trailer also featured some flashy and stylish 2D animated cutscenes.

The new Ninja Gaiden game will be developed by The Game Kitchen, who previously developed Blasphemous, and the company’s extremely detailed signature pixel art style is present here. The game is published by Dotemu, who previously published other retro games such as Streets of Rage 4 and Metal Slug Tactics.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound will release in Summer 2025 for PS5, PS4, Switch, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
