NieR Reincarnation Director Talked About Upcoming Update

The latest issue of the magazine Famitsu includes information on the upcoming update for NieR Reincarnation. The new chapter of the game is coming in January 2023. The second anniversary event is scheduled for February 18, 2023. Famitsu talked with Director Daichi Matsukawa about this new content and what’s happening to the story afterwards. Matsukawa said that the new chapter coming out in January 2023 will be the last chapter for “The Sun and the Moon” story arc. He also talked about new content coming for the second anniversary of the game and briefly mentioned the new direction the story is going to take. Here is a direct quote from Matsukawa:

After the second anniversary, the story will undergo major changes and enter a new phase.

“The Sun and the Moon” is the second and current story arc of the game, and it focuses on high school students Hina Akagi and Yuzuki Kurezome exploring The Cage. The new chapter will be the sixth and last of this arc. In comparison, the first act “The Girl and the Monster” had 12 chapters. In November 2022, Square Enix announced a crossover event between NieR Reincarnation and SINoALICE. The event released on November 10, 2022.
