NieR Reincarnation Closed Beta Gameplay Footage

The closed beta test for NieR Reincarnation, the NieR series’ new smartphone game, started today in Japan. New footage from the CBT shows the starting part of the game.

After the introduction, the game starts out with a girl in white waking up on the cold stone floor. It doesn’t take long until she meets a mysterious ghost-like creature that goes by “Mama” who is there to help her out. We have no idea why, but Mama says she’ll support the girl and guides her through the area. At the 8:25 mark of the video, the story shifts to a set of two characters walking the vast wilderness. It shows a young man who appears well brought up and a quiet man who follows closely behind. They decide to stop by a town to rest but find unexpected trouble.

This is where NieR Reincarnation throws us into the first battle at the  10:50 mark of the video. In battles, your characters will automatically attack. When the skill meter fills up they can use Weapon Skills. After the battle, it goes back to the Girl in White and Mama towards the end of the video.
