While his role is unclear, Taro wrote in his personal blog that he’s helping Square Enix develop their social game Monster X Dragon. Taro says, he was requested because all of his previous titles have a dark and gloomy feel to them. It doesn’t sound like Taro is working at Square Enix because he mentions outsourcing this kind of work is unusual and usually his job would be done with people on the inside.

Monster X Dragon is hosted by Yahoo! Japan. The game blends elements of card collecting and simulation games. Square Enix tested Monster X Dragon in a closed beta, paid service starts today.
