Square Enix is releasing a special book for NieR: Automata in Japan on February 23 that contains artwork for its world along with comments from Yoko Taro and two novellas by Emi Nagashima.
The book, titled “NieR: Automata World Guide Art Cartulary” will showcase plenty of art of the world we’ll see the YoRHa unit travel in the upcoming game. The 192-page B5-sized book has a big feature on concept art for all of the areas in the world of NieR: Automata, as well as some comments from director Yoko Taro about the characteristics of all the areas.
Additionally, to provide further enjoyment and a deeper understanding of the world of NieR: Automata, the book will contain two novellas written by Emi Nagashima. She previously worked on Drag-On Dragoon: Shi ni Itaru Aka (Drakengard: The Red Unto Death) a manga serialization of the Drakengard series that was supervised by Yoko Taro. She also worked on the Drakengard 3 short stories.
To top it off, the book will also contain a map that is easy to navigate with detailed explanations for all the areas as well as data on where to find items.
The NieR: Automata World Guide Art Cartulary book releases in Japan on the day of the game’s release of February 23, 2017 and will go for 1,836 yen. It is available for purchase on the Square Enix e-Store.
NieR: Automata releases in Japan on February 23, North America on March 7, and Europe on March 10, 2017 for PlayStation 4. The PC version will be available sometime in 2017.
