Nexomon Extinction is a Pokemon-like, but that doesn’t mean all of its elements are identical to the game it pulls from. For example, one Nexomon Extinction video going over how to catch a Nexomon shows how different it can be.
In Nexomon Extinction, it isn’t as simple as tossing an item and then getting a new character. There’s a whole potential three step process. Once you start catching, a breakdown appears to show how the opponent’s hunger level, fatigue, status effect status, and trap you are using will alter the rate of success. You can then feed a character and choose the sort of trap used. After that, there’s a QTE where you press certain buttons in a limited amount of time to try and make a new friend.
Two other Nexomon Extinction videos were also released, but they’re more typical hype-building pieces. This one offers a general overview of the game.
The final Nexomon Extinction video focuses on some NPCs you’ll encounter on your journey throughout the world. Some are friends, and others are very definitely foes.
Nexomon Extinction will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 28, 2020, with the Switch and PS4 versions available digitally and physically.
