Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a system update for the PS5 version of Final Fantasy XVI (FFXVI) to fix issues. The official Final Fantasy XVI X (formerly known as Twitter) account asks players to download and install the update to see if it makes things better.
After the PC port of FFXVI came out, along with a new update, PS5 players have been encountering crashes and graphical issues. It seems that the update destabilized something within the game’s code. The FFXVI X account notes in a follow-up post that Square Enix is still investigating the cause of these glitches in collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment. As a note, the PC port is also encountering issues such as low FPS and performance bugs.
Final Fantasy XVI initially came out in 2023 as a PS5 exclusive. It sold over three million copies during its first week, though it didn’t reach Square Enix’s expectations for the game. The PC version of the game came out on September 17, 2024. As for the story, you play as protagonist Clive Rosfield as he journeys through Valisthea in order to take revenge on Ifrit, an Eikon who killed his brother Joshua when they were children.
Final Fantasy XVI is readily available on the PS5 and Windows PC. A new update for Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PS5 version of the game.
