New Screenshots Provide A Good Look At Type-Moon’s Mahou Tsukai no Yoru

Last week, we reported that Type-Moon’s next major visual novel, Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, would be released on April 12th, 2012. 4Gamer confirmed the news today, along with a large batch of screenshots from the game. More than we’ve ever seen before, actually, and they look fantastic.

 

Looking at the above screenshot, you may get the impression that it’s a complete CG image, where the background and the character were drawn together. That isn’t the case. Characters and background images were drawn separately, but were merged on a case-by-case basis (very interesting interview!), depending on which images the development team felt went well together.

 

Type-Moon made a special effort to merge the backgrounds and sprites this way in order to pursue a more cinematic feel. Here are a few more screenshots from the game. You can find more at the 4Gamer link:
