The new Pokemon Horizons anime has premiered in Japan and it appears to be already teasing a brand-new Pokemon. During the first episodes, a turtle-like creature surrounded by a turquoise blue light is introduced to the new protagonist, Liko. Until now, such a Pokemon has not appeared yet in the game. This April 14, 2023, Japan received the first two episodes of the Pokemon Horizons anime, introducing one of the new protagonists, Liko. During the double feature, this mysterious new creature appeared just in time to save Liko and her Sprigatito from the attack of an enemy Ceruledge.
From what can be seen in the anime, the new Pokemon could be related to a pendant worn by Liko which also signifies the beginning of her adventures. This whole development is reminiscent of the beginning of the original Pokémon series when Ash Ketchum encountered Ho-Oh in the first few episodes.
Although we don’t know much about the new turtle-like Pokemon, a very similar creature was featured as part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In fact, it was The Indigo Disk expansion’s new legendary Pokemon, Terapagos. Coincidentally, the name of Liko’s school in the Pokémon Horizons anime is Indigo Academy.
Take a look at the new legendary Pokemon Terapagos appearing as part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC compared to the Pokémon featured in the anime here below.
The Pokemon Horizons anime will be airing every Friday in Japan on TV Tokyo starting April 14, 2023. The English localization release date has not yet been confirmed. The latest game installments, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, are immediately available for Nintendo Switch. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will be released in two parts, the Teal Mask expansion launching in Fall 2023, and the Indigo Disk expansion in Winter 2023.
