People accustomed to a batch of new Nintendo Switch Online NES games each month will no longer have a set schedule to turn to. Nintendo Japan released an article going over Super Famicom Nintendo Switch Online games on September 5, 2019 that noted both the Famicom and Super Famicom games would be added “irregularly,” instead of going according to a schedule, going forward. Vooks, an Australian site, received confirmation from Nintendo that this will apply to other regions.
In the statement the Nintendo representative gave Vooks, it was noted that both Nintendo Switch Online apps’ new games “will be added after launch, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule.” Previously, people could expect between two and three NES games each month, with usually an SP version of an existing game thrown in.
The Super NES Nintendo Switch Online game app was added on September 5, 2019. The initial lineup included 20 games.
Apps with NES and SNES games are available on the Nintendo Switch for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
