A new line of Mario and Bowser toys have been revealed on Bid Toys’ Facebook and Instagram pages, and they are inspired by an unexpected source. Introducing MA-NULTRA and KOOBALA, the Ultraman-like tokusatsu versions of the two Nintendo icons.
Both of these Mario and Bowser toys are made of vinyl and are designed to call to mind characters people would see in the superhero series. MA-NULTRA wears a suit that’s nearly identical to the Ultraman that appeared in the original Ultraman TV series. (When you pose him, maybe have “him” say, “Shuwatch!” after?)
Meanwhile, KOOBALA looks like most lizard-like kaiju. The closest comparison might actually be Bemular, the first Ultraman villain. However, he doesn’t look all that dissimilar from Godzilla.
Here are some photos of the Bid Toys Mario and Bowser figures facing off against each other.
These two are only the most recent Mario products announced. Lego Mario sets are on the way (and will include a Bowser-themed set). Those will launch in August 2020. Some Levi’s Super Mario clothing items and a new Super Mario Uniqlo collection have both also recently launched around the world.
A release date hasn’t been announced for Bid Toys Ultraman-inspired Mario and Bowser figures.
