Beta testers revealed the abilities and skills of the upcoming new hunter in Identity V, Wax Artist. Though the English Identity V Twitter simply state that Wax Artist will appear in-game “soon,” the Japanese account announced that NetEase will implement him next month.
Wax Artist, whose real name is Phillip, has a wax figure of his dead sister on his shoulder. Prior to his sister’s death, Phillip practiced physiognomy and used it, as well as his wax figures, to find criminals. When he returned from abroad, he found that someone had murdered her during his absence. Because of the wax on his body, he has a shorter stun recovery time and when Survivors stun him, wax flies everywhere. This wax attaches itself onto windows, pallets, and the Survivors themselves. It increases the wax gauge on a Survivor and when it reaches 100%, the Survivor cannot move for three seconds.
Wax Artist can also use his nozzle to spray wax pellets at Survivors, windows, and pallets. This also raises a Survivor’s wax gauge and can stop them from vaulting. When Wax Artist unlocks more presence, he can shoot a massive ball of wax. It explodes when it lands, applying wax to an area. At max presence, he can heat up his wax and actually damage a Survivor when their wax gauge is at 100%. This is similar to Naiad and her humidity mechanic.
NetEase first introduced Wax Artist during the third anniversary of Identity V. During the same announcement, they showed off Patient and “Psychologist,” as well as the new Darkwoods map. Darkwoods is not in the game yet.
Identity V is available on mobile devices and Windows PC, and Wax Artist will appear next month. The game is running a collaboration with The Promised Neverland, allowing players to obtain limited skins, stickers, and accessories.
