New Final Fantasy TCG Set Introduces Limit Break Mechanic

Square Enix revealed new information about an upcoming set for the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game (FFTCG). The expansion is called Hidden Hope and will be released on March 22, 2024. It introduces the new Limit Break system, which allows players to use cards outside of the traditional deck.

Aside from the initial reveal that the Limit Break will appear in Final Fantasy Trading Card Game Hidden Hope expansion, there are no additional details. Square Enix didn’t offer any examples of how it will be used. More information will likely appear closer to launch.

The set also features a number of new illustrations, including an original illustration of Sephiroth by Kobayashi Gen, the lead character designer for The World Ends with You. It will be featured as the special card of the set.

The “Hidden Hope” set includes:

  • 124 common cards
  • 124 premium common cards
  • 1 crystal card
  • 28 full art premium cards
  • 1 special card

One full art premium card featuring Kurasame from Final Fantasy Type-0 will be included as a bonus with every booster box purchased. In addition, premium full art cards of popular cards from past sets are to be included in this set as “legacy cards.”

The legacy cards are as follows:

  • 【4-064L】Fat Chocobo
  • 【16-129L】Chaos
  • 【18-116L】Sephiroth

In addition to Hidden Hope, Square Enix is also releasing an Anniversary Collection Set on February 16, 2024. This set commemorates the ninth anniversary of the game, and features 253 cards spanning the history of the TCG.

The Final Fantasy Trading Card Game Hidden Hope expansion will be available on March 22, 2024.
