During the May 2024 State of Play, Sony announced a new Astro Bot game called… Astro Bot for the PS5. It will launch on September 6, 2024 and is a platformer. Unlike other titles, that may have required a PSVR headset or the camera, there are no extra peripherals required for this adventure.
Here’s the first trailer for the game. It showed a number of platforming segments, as well as boss fights. Sony hardware and accessories appear, such as a Dualsense used as a glider and a PS5 itself. There are also references to past games like God of War Ragnarok and Shadow of the Colossus.

These little robots have become a mascot for Sony over the years. They first appeared in the PS4 tech demo and pack-in game The Playroom. The goal there was to show how the PlayStation Camera would work.Following that debut, they returned for the PlayStation VR exclusive Astro Bot Rescue Mission. The characters then returned for Astro’s Playroom, the PS5 pack-in that acted as an introduction to the Dualsense controller. A Nendoroid of the robot even eventually appeared.
The new Astro Bot game will come to the PS5 on September 6, 2024.
