A new Netflix Sonic the Hedgehog show is on the way. The official NXonNetflix account posted, then pulled, a tweet announcing the series on December 10, 2020. It will show up on the streaming service in 2022.
As you might imagine, Wario64 captured and shared a screenshot of the tweet after it was pulled.

There’s no artwork to give us an idea of how Sonic and his friends might look in this Netflix series. However, we do know Sega, Man of Action, and WildBrain are all involved. Man of Action’s catalog includes the shows Ben 10, Generator Rex, Marvel’s Avengers: Assemble, and Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man. WildBrain produced shows like Carmen Sandiego, Polly Pocket, and The Snoopy Show.
The last Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired 3D animated show was Sonic Boom. It ran from 2014-2017 and focused on the adventures of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Doctor Eggman, and new character Sticks the Badger. The Nintendo 3DS games Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and Wii U game Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric released during its run.
Netflix’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3D animated series is currently in development, according to the now-deleted tweet, and will be available to stream via the service in 2022.
