A new free mobile game created by former Neko Atsume developers titled Inu no Oyakume is now available. It focuses on taking care of dogs, and it released in Japanese on Google Play on July 13, 2023 for Android devices. The game is a spiritual sequel to the cat collecting idle game but this time around it focuses on dogs. ORIGAMI, the developer of the game, was formed on 2019 by former Neko Atsume developers. An iOS version is currently in the making.
In the game, the player becomes the master of dogs that have special powers called spirit dogs. By taking care of these spirit dogs, the player helps them bring peace in the world. Inu no Oyakume is similar to Neko Atsume in terms of gameplay. Both titles are idle games where players take care of dogs and cats, respectively. Players only need to provide food and bedding for the spirit dogs, and in return the dogs will do all the work while the player is off the app.
Additionally, the spirit dogs will sometime go on patrol and protect the world by fighting yokai in battle. As players progress through the game, new dogs will appear. Players will also be able to take pictures of the dogs relaxing and sleeping at home.
Inu no Oyakume is now available in Japan for Android mobile devices, and it is planned to appear for Apple devices in the future. It is currently unknown if the game will be localized overseas, but you can download and play the Android version on a device even if you are in North America.
